Matt Acheson holds a Medical Degree from Monash University and a FANZCA Specialist from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. A well experienced Anaesthetist, Matt also holds a Bachelor Degree of Laws from University of Southern Queensland.
As the Interim DMS, Matt oversees the medical professional standards at Geelong Day Surgery, playing a key role in creating robust and supportive medical cultural leadership.
As the Chair of Medical Advisory Committee, Matt provides advice to the Board of Management on professional medical governance, including medical workforce planning and management to achieve the highest standards of clinical practice and patient-centered care at Geelong Day Surgery.
Dr. Douraid Abbas is a distinguished surgeon specialising in endoscopy, general surgery, and bariatric surgery. With extensive training and decades of experience, he excels in advanced laparoscopic procedures and weight loss surgery, aimed at improving patient health and quality of life.
Dr. Abbas serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Notre Dame School of Medicine in Sydney, where he is committed to the education and mentorship of future surgeons. He is a registered surgeon with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and holds memberships with several prestigious organisations, including the Obesity Surgery Society of Australia & New Zealand and the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.
At Geelong Day Surgery, Dr. Abbas plays a vital role in the Medical Advisory and Credentialing Committee, advising on medical standards and contributing to the enhancement of clinical practices and patient-centered care.
Dr Balanand Subramanian is a Specialist Oral Surgeon who speaks Hindi, Tamil and English.
Simon is an experienced senior health care executive with an extensive clinical and leadership background. Having practised as a surgeon in Australia, Scotland and Hong Kong, Simon has worked across public and private hospital settings including in an academic capacity.
Simon’s previous roles include being the clinical head at The Alfred Hospital, Medical Director and then Executive Director of Medical Services for Cabrini Health and the Clinical Dean / Clinical Associate Professor, coordinating teaching at The Alfred and Cabrini Health. In 2020, Simon was the Chief Medical Officer at Barwon Health, overseeing the medical workforce, the Quality and Safety Team and Pharmacy.
Currently, Simon is a member of the Safer Care Victoria Academy, contributing to Safety System Reviews, Adverse Event Review Training, and the Board Education program.
As a Medical Advisor at Geelong Day Surgery, Simon provides strategic advice and guidance to the Director of Medical Services and Medical Advisory Committee across all clinical issues to ensure delivering the triple aim of balancing quality, affordability, and access across health care, whilst maintaining a focus on patients at all times.
With over 18 years of experience in Information Technology, Aseem possesses valuable expertise in managing teams and successfully delivering major system development projects.
Aseem’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Graduate Diploma in Management and Advance Diploma of Community Sector Management, which have provided him with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills.
Aseem has refined his leadership abilities through the completion of the Certificate of Global Business Leadership from U21 Global and Harvard Business School Publishing, as well as the Managerial Excellence Program from Duke University.
As the CEO, Aseem provides strategic leadership to the overall operations at Geelong Day Surgery and leads the business improvement initiatives ensuring consistency with the Geelong Day Surgery strategic and annual operational plans.
In recent years, alongside his healthcare management role, Aseem has actively taken on the responsibility of overseeing the Dental Clinic and Montessori preschool at the Geelong Hub. This diverse background allows him to offer a unique perspective and contribute to the effective management of healthcare operations.
With an extensive executive experience in the healthcare industry, Suzette joined Geelong Day Surgery in January 2024 leading the commissioning of the day hospital.
Before joining Geelong Day Surgery, Suzette held executive and senior roles in the Department of Health across Private Hospitals Unit, Digital Health, and Emergency Management.
Suzette holds a Master of Health Information Management (La Trobe University), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (University of the Philippines Manila) and is on track to completing Master of Public Health and Master of Health Leadership and Management (Double Master’s Program) from the University of New South Wales.
Having worked in a number of private and public hospitals across Philippines, New Zealand and Australia, including a surgical ship in Papua New Guinea, Suzette is passionate about service, continuous improvement, and placing people at the heart of what she does. As the DON, she is committed to advocating for nurses and supporting the important role they play in delivering safe and quality care.
